There are lots of renovation currently ongoing at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi. It is said that the Oba will likely not move into the palace until next year because the palace is currently being overhauled completely.

There’s a lot of renovation going in the palace at this time, and nearly all the buildings there are affected. It looks like the new Ooni and the palace management are upgrading the place to make it more befitting for the new king.
A source at the palace tells Naij, com that; “We’re working hard to make sure we complete the renovation soon so that our Ooni can move in by Christmas. But for now the king comes in every day from his personal home in town, to hold meetings and carry out other functions. We’re looking forward to the completion of this project so that our king can move into his palace fully.”
Ogunwusi was installed as Ooni last week in a posh ceremony in Ile Ife after a long series of rites.
The king is very popular in the town and a lot of people believe his reign will benefit them and bring development to their town.  He’s also been praised for being humble and public spirited.
Segun owns a shop near the Oranmiyan Shopping Complex in the town. He says: “I like our new king very much because he’s a very humble person. He passes this road here to the palace everyday, and when he passes, he doesn’t make a show of it by using a long convoy or anything like that. He just does his things quietly. He’s really a king of the masses.”
Another resident named Tola says: “We’re happy the coronation is now complete because at the times the traditional rites were going on, businesses had to close during parts of the day and it affected the economy. But now things are back to normal and there’s no problem at all.”
