The wedding of Elizabeth and Larry in 1991 was an elaborate gathering that took place at Michael Jackson‘s Neverland Ranch and had 160 guests. It was a major celebrity gathering, including names like; Eddie Murphy, Nancy Reagan, Quincy Jones, Macaulay Culkin and Liza Minnelli which brought paparazzi hovering in helicopters above the ranch. Jackson took the role as father of the bride. Taylor’s wedding dress was a gift from Valentino and was worth $25,000.  The couple’s marriage lasted five years.

McCartney and Mills refused millions of dollars from dozens of tabloids that tried to get access to the couple’s wedding day. The two married in 2002 and had a stunning Indian-styled wedding in Ireland at Castle Leslie in the village of Glaslough.  The couple celebrated with their guests after the ceremony with a reception that featured a vegetarian meal, dancers, fireworks and flowers that cost $145,000 and rented the castle for $40,000. Ringo, George and Paul hit the stage to sing a song McCartney wrote called “Heather.”

Liza and David married in 2002 and had a lavish wedding as only one could imagine the flamboyant star would have. Their wedding consisted of a large amount of guests, 850 to be exact, and was held at the Regent Hotel in New York.  Some of the celebrities on the guest list were Diana Ross, Donny Osmond, and Mia Farrow. Not to mention the starlet was accompanied down the aisle by the best man Michael Jackson and matron of honor Elizabeth Taylor. Unfortunately, Liza and David forever were anything but as their marriage only lasted 16 months.

The former First Daughter Chelsea and husband Marc married in 2010 and celebrated their special day with 400 close friends and family in a small town in upstate New York called Rhinebeck. The bride wore a dress made by Vera Wang, who was also a guest, Bill and Hillary wore Oscar de la Renta.  Although their guest list was fairly large, there were a small amount of celebrities, but a large number of congressmen and congresswomen. Despite rumors that the couple were seeking a divorce in 2012, Chelsea and Marc are still happily married.

The ceremony was broken up into two stages; the first part of the celebration took place in a 330-year-old villa beneath a Louis XVI chandelier and continued in the Riviera resort of Santa Margherita Ligure at a 17th century Villa. News covered most of the bill in an agreement that they had the rights to air the wedding, which had a record breaking 10 million viewers tuning in. The couple banked nearly $18 million for selling the rights to their wedding photo’s. Although they didn’t pay much themselves for their wedding, their individual lawyer fees for their divorce wasn’t covered by anybody. The couple had one of the shortest celebrity marriages ever, lasting a total of 72 days.

The couple tied the knot in 2011 and took place at none other than the historic Westminster Abby. The televised ceremony had an estimate of 2 billion people watching from all over the world. There were a total of three guest lists; the first list had 1,900 people invited to the ceremony, the second list had approximately 600 people invited to the luncheon at Buckingham’s Palace and the third list consisted of 300 to attend a dinner hosted by the Prince of Whales.

Lady Diana and Prince Charles wed in 1981 and theirs was one of the most highly anticipated royal weddings ever. It was dubbed “the wedding of the century” and was watched globally by an estimated 750 million viewers. The ceremony took place at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and had 3,500 guests. 2 million people lined up along the streets of London to catch a glimpse of Lady Diana as she traveled in a glass coach to the cathedral. The reception only had 120 guests at Buckingham Palace following the ceremony. The relationship of Lady Diana and Prince Charles was often in the tabloids during the course of their marriage. Their marriage lasted 11 years; they separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996.

The invitations alone were elaborate in the sense that they were mailed in silver boxes and included plane tickets and rooms at a five-star hotel in Paris. Bombonieres consisted of gift bags filled with jewels. The dinner was prepared by chefs flown in from India and one of the highlights of the festivities was at the reception where a performance by singer Kylie Minogue took place while fireworks went off at the Eiffel Tower.

The ceremony wasn’t your typical wedding celebration as  it actually lasted a total of seven days, and not only that, but a stadium that seated 20,000 was built for the wedding. The newly married couple rode on horseback throughout all of the towns that are located within the Emirates, and handed out food and gifts to the people of their country. The groom bought 20 camels decorated with luxurious jewels for the wedding and they delivered gifts for his beautiful bride.
