The five-star Claridges in Lutyens New Delhi, the flagship hotel of The Claridges Hotels & Resorts, is said to be on the market. 
The 140-room accommodation was built in 1952, and is part of the Claridges group is owned by Indian businessman Suresh Nanda. 
According to reports, a number of parties are said to be in talks for taking over the property, including a leading Southeast Asian luxury hotel brand and a Mumbai-based family.

DealStreetAsia, who reported the claims, said that the estimated sale value of the hotel is said to be around £152 million (Rs 1,500 crore). 
Located just 1.9 miles from the city centre, the hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, seven dining options, a shopping arcade and health club.  
Nanda acquired the property around a decade ago, with the Claridges Group currently owning and operating luxury hotels and resorts in North India including The Claridges Nabha Residence, Mussoorie.
Athough Suresh Nanda's son Sanjeev sits on the board, the Economic Times reported that a hotelier aware of the development said the family may be looking to exit the hospitality business as its members are based mostly in the UK.
