A 19-year-old girl Chiamaka, at the weekend committed suicide for being pregnant.
Chiamaka took her own life in her residence at No. 17 Nwike Street, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The girl, who hails from Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, was said to have hung herself after her parents told her that they could not buy her what she had demanded for the yuletide period because they did not have the money.
However, they allegedly promised to buy them as soon as things improved.
But on discovering that Chiamaka was pregnant, the parents vowed not to buy those things for her, a source said.
The source, who is close to the family, added that Chiamaka had after discovering that she was pregnant, informed her boyfriend, who also lives in the same 17 Nwike Street with her, that he was responsible for the pregnancy but the boy denied ownership.
